Yorkshire Craftmanship | Hand-Thrown Stoneware Yarn Bowls

Yorkshire Craftmanship | Hand-Thrown Stoneware Yarn Bowls

When expanding our collection of studio essentials, we sought out tools that perfectly balance everyday functionality with authentic Yorkshire craftsmanship. Today, we are thrilled to introduce our exclusive stoneware yarn bowls—crafted especially for our brand.

Nestled beneath the limestone scars of Ingleborough, this family-run studio has been throwing pots on the wheel for decades. In a world of mass production, partnering with a local maker dedicated to heritage craft felt like a natural choice

Studio Essentials

A great yarn bowl is an essential tool for any modern maker's studio. It eliminates the frustration of wool rolling across the floor, catching dust, or tangling mid-row—keeping your skein anchored while feeding yarn smoothly as you stitch.

Crafting each bowl by hand requires true precision and skill:

Wheel-Throwing: Each piece starts as raw stoneware clay, carefully centered and pulled up on the wheel to form a balanced, weighted bowl.

Hand-Carving: While the clay is at the "leather-hard" stage, the signature wool channel and guide hole are carved directly into the wall, then carefully smoothed to ensure delicate fibers never snag.

Glazing & High-Firing: After an initial bisque firing, the bowls are finished in our custom-selected glazes and high-fired to stoneware temperatures for maximum durability and a rich tactile feel.

A Lasting Addition to Your Space

Whether resting on your studio desk or sitting beside your favorite stitching armchair, these yarn bowls are built to be both an everyday functional tool and a lasting piece of Yorkshire ceramic history. They look just as beautiful on a coffee table or open shelf as they do in active use.

Because each bowl is made individually by hand, every piece features its own subtle, natural variances in texture and glaze—making yours truly one of a kind.

Please Note: Due to the small-batch, handmade nature of wheel-thrown pottery, stock is strictly limited.
